Margaret Rossiter

Visual Art Ontario

Margaret Rossiter’s paintings are an intense and passionate response to the natural world. This website includes oil paintings, watercolour paintings and notecards. The imagery includes landscapes and seascapes of Georgian Bay, woodland scenes, flowers and still lifes.
Margaret Rossiter’s paintings are highly naturalistc, and are always done on location and from life, which imbues them with the presence of the elements. One senses the passage of time in these works, the subtlties of light and texture and the power of form. Margaret Rossiter is a pagan whose spiritual reponse to nature can be felt in her art.

The way I see it.

We can all “look”but only a few will “see”. I paint because the urge to express feelings is always present.
Molding clay or using a brush is the only way to express happiness or sorrow; the abstract then becomes a solid object to be touched and enjoyed.
When momentum is created the process is under way. The understanding of the total process escapes me; it is probably reflected in the hermetic quality I cannot overcome in some of my work.
My hope is that all that can “look” will also”see”.
